TLDR: New For 2023
CLAIM YOUR BOTTLE SELECTIONS - Not new, but don't make me hunt you down.
Two Bottles - One priced $35+ and the other priced $60+
Option to purchase Custom/Christmas glass
Tasting will be blind ( You'll know all bottles in the lineup, but not which bottle you get on a certain date )
Bottle your own stuff if possible ( More Details Below )
What are we doing here?
An advent calendar with a whiskey pour for each day. Each person will contribute TWO bottles to be divided into pours for the rest of the group.
What will my cost be?
There are two mandatory things you will pay for.
The first will be the two bottles you select ( I'll cover this more below ).
The second will be your sample bottles if you need them . I'll place a bulk order for as many needed and try to connect anyone ordering to give them their 24.
If we absolutely can't connect, we'll bottle yours at the event. This will be about $10 a person and I'll by sets of the 72 seen here.
The survey will ask if you need bottles as you're welcome to reuse yours from last year or order your own.
NOTE: 12 2oz samples will essentially empty each bottle. You should not expect to have pours remaining from your bottles.
You will also have the option of purchasing a glass of some type. I'm shopping vendors to find the best option. This will fall between 10-25 dollars depending on the route we end up taking. I'll put this in the survey and confirm with everyone before making the purchase.
How do I give / get my stuff?
I'll host an exchange event where everyone will bring bottles and we'll bottle the samples here while enjoying another bottle or two of something not chosen for the calendar.
I do not anticipate that I'll be able to find a night that works for 12 people. If you can't make the event, please provide your bottles/selections prior to the event so that the number of people we have to connect with after the event is as small as possible. This can mean giving your bottles to someone else who will attend, or letting me purchase your bottles for you.
Please use the survey up top to select your dates.
Wait - You'll buy it for me?
Absolutely. Transparency - I'm in a rewards points program and have plenty of great bottles to contribute. I am more than willing to buy someones bottles and have them pay me back. If you don't care and want to tell me what to grab or have me pick something at a price range... embrace the convenience.
Bottle Selection
First and Foremost - There is NO expectation for exclusivity in terms of the bottles we select. No one should feel pressured to provide a special bottle to "keep up" or compete with what other group members provide.
By the same token - You are allowed to contribute as nice a bottle as you like, but understand this expectation. You should have NO expectations that anyone will match or applaud your contribution. MOST IMPORTANTLY HERE - If you even HINT at dissatisfaction with someones contributions, you won't be asked back.
Price Range: There is no ceiling for price. This year we'll ask for a bottle at 2 different price points. One should be no less than $35 and the other no less than $60.
What Types Of Whiskey?: Anything! Scotch, Bourbon, Japanese, Irish, American... your call. But it must be whiskey.
Can I "Claim" certain bottles I want to contribute? Actually - it's mandatory. You must tell me by phone, text, or email what you plan to get or what you buy as soon as you know or buy it. This will ensure we have 24 unique bottles. You can check what has already been submitted at this link and I'll keep it updated as quickly as possible.
Can I use something I already have? Sure - provided it's still sealed. Several reasons for this requirement, but it's important to note that we'll need most of your bottle to create samples.
